Din Tai Fung

OMG, got to go grub on some bomb ass dumplings tonight. The first time I had soup dumplings I was in New York, at Shanghai Joe’s. I had never had them before, and didn’t know if I could find them here on the west coast. Thankfully my friend Laurie (a major foodie) knew exactly where I could find them. Din Tai Fung. So tonight I met some friends at the Americana in Glendale and ate until I could eat no more. The soup dumplings have a different name, here they’re called “Juicy Pork Dumplings” but they are so delicious! I highly recommend them!

Unfortunately I was too absorbed with eating them that I didn’t take a photo of the soup dumplings, so you’ll have to settle for photos of the pork and shrimp dumplings and the rice and pork dumplings.

And then there was this little dude at the door, greeting all who enter.

2014

As I live in one of the last places on earth to ring in the new year, I was sorely disappointed by the fact that there are no flying cars, and I cannot purchase a robot maid named Rosie… On another note, the fact that Sherlock is coming back in just a few hours more than makes up for that engineering lapse.

This year I’m going to keep my resolutions short and attainable, no sense in setting myself up for failure.

1. Write one letter a week. It shouldn’t be hard, I have a handful of penpals and plenty of stationary. Let’s get this Letter Writing Revolution started (again).

2. Do something active at least twice a week, whether it’s hiking, swimming, jogging or golf. Get out and move!

3. Write at least half an hour a day, even if I don’t know what to write or have anything to write, follow Mr. Ashburn’s instructions and write nonsense until something sensical comes to me.

4. Try be a vegetarian for a few days a month, maybe not once a week, but for one day every two weeks?

That sounds like a good list to me.

Happy New Year everyone. May everything you deserve in 2014 be yours!
